Inspired by Tryophobia, Satisfying Repugnancy is a collection of textile samples made for an interactive exhibit at The Wellcome Collection. The aim of the exhibit is to record how the general public react to the textures of the samples. This is to help contribute to the study of why certain textures evoke certain emotions in some people but completely different emotions in others. Helping to uncover deep buried memories hidden in the unconscious. I wanted to focus on two human emotional responses that are completely contrasted from one another, so I focused on satisfaction and disgust. Satisfaction representing the side of pleasure and happiness and disgust representing pain and discomfort.
